GAINESVILLE - Court processing fees in Gainesville are going up following approval of an increase this week by the city council.
Council agreed to raise city citation fees from two to five dollars to electronically transfer data from police to the court system, according to Financial Services Manager Beverly Williams.
"Passing this amendment would allow us to pass the three dollar additional fee to the offender at no cost to the city," Williams said.
Williams said the transfer would save hours of time spent by court clerks on data entry and is a new feature in court software.
Council members expect to formally approve the fee hike during Tuesday's regular meeting.
