GAINESVILLE - Market on the Square returns to downtown Gainesville Friday and an open house will be held Saturday at the city's new public safety building.
It will be the third year for the weekly Market on the Square sales event which will continue each Friday during the summer months from 2:30 until 6:30, featuring home-grown fruits and vegetables and arts and crafts.
Market on the Square will overlap with June's First Fridays celebration sponsored by Main Street Gainesville. It begins at 5:00 and continues until 10:00, complete with shopping, dining, an art walk and live music. Other First Fridays are scheduled in July and August.
Saturday's public safety building open house begins at 10:00 and continues until 1:00. The complex is located on Queen City Parkway just south of Jesse Jewell Parkway.
The city's fire and police departments and municipal court moved into building late last year.
