ATLANTA - Joe Reed of Gainesville has been appointed by Gov. Nathan Deal to the Georgia State Board of Dispensing Opticians.<br />

Reed has been a licensed dispensing optician for over 30 years. <br />
<br />
He is American Board of Opticianry Master Certified and National Contact Lens Examiners Certified and is the chairman of the SouthEastern Opticians Conference, president of Joe Reed Opticians, Inc. and an associate of the North Georgia Eye Clinic in Gainesville. <br />
<br />
Reed was previously president of the Opticians Association of Georgia and chairman of the Guild Opticians of America. Reed attended Gainesville College. <br />
<br />
He and his wife, Peggy, live in Gainesville and have two children and four grandchildren.
