ATLANTA - The State Public Service Commission will hold a hearing in Gainesville Monday night on Atmos Energy's proposal to raise natural gas rates.
Atmos is the primary natural gas supplier for Gainesville and Columbus and in October requested a $3.7 million rate increase. But, as we reported two weeks ago, the PSC staff is recommending about half that... $1.7 million. PSC spokesman Bill Edge said at the time, that would translate into about a $2-a-month increase for the average residential customer.
The PSC is to make a decision on March 29.
Monday's hearing will be at 6:30 at the Hall County Courthouse Annex.
The PSC will hold another hearing, in Atlanta, on Thursday.
