ATLANTA - School districts across Georgia are scrambling to make up the snow days they've had to take during the state's unusually snowy winter.
Some districts are carving days out of winter and spring breaks to meet the 180 school days required by the state. Others that were closed for up to a week after the historic floods in September are asking the state for waivers so they don't have to extend the school year.
Officials in Carroll County in west Georgia have asked for a waiver from the state after multiple days off from flooding and snow. Next door in Douglas County, officials have permission from the state to shave three days off the school year and hope they don't have to ask for more.
On Tuesday, dozens of districts closed or let school out early because of snow.
