Cagle pushing water legislation
ATLANTA - It's week two of the 2010 legislative session and the push is on to draft new laws in response to the ongoing legal battle over water rights to Lake Lanier.
With the clock ticking for Georgia, Florida and Alabama to strike a deal over water rights to Lake Lanier, Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle is pushing for three pieces of legislation.
Cagle tells Georgia News Network he wants to find bond revenue to build new reservoirs , legislation that will identify where those new reservoirs can be built, and a bill that rewards conservation efforts.
The governors of all three states say they'll try to present a compromise plan to their respective legislatures this year and Cagle says those negotiations appear to be going well.
