UNDATED - Fire struck a 6,000-square-foot house in South Hall Tuesday night and another blaze briefly forced the evacuation of a Suwanee hotel.
The house fire was in the 2700 block of Democracy Court off Friendship Road, according to Hall County Fire Chief David Kimbrell. Kimbrell says it happened about 8:30 and was called in by a passing motorists. He said no one was at home and there were no injuries. The extent of the damage was not immediately known.
Meanwhile, Gwinnett County fire fighters were called to the Sunsuites Hotel on Gwinco Boulevard early Wednesday to a report of a fire in the laundry room. Spokesman Tommy Rutledge says the fire was contained to a clothes dryer and has been ruled an accident.
Rutledge says the three-story hotel was briefly evacuated while fire crews "checked for an extension" of the fire into areas other than the laundry room and removed smoke and water from the building.
