Gainesville teacher headed to teachers academy

GAINESVILLE - David Brinson, a fourth grade teacher at Fair Street IB World School in Gainesville has been selected to attend the 2009 Mickelson ExxonMobil Teachers Academy at the Liberty Science Center in Jersey City, N.J. Brinson is one of 200 third- through fifth-grade teachers from around the country selected to attend the intensive one-week, all-expense paid professional development program this summer.

A panel of educators from the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) and the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) made the selections. The panel based their decisions on qualifications, dedication to inspiring students at an early age and his overall commitment to enhancing the teaching profession.
