MOBILE, Ala. - With the lifting of the moratorium on new boat docks on Lake Lanier, the Corps of Engineers has now announced plans for a lottery to decide who gets a permit from the limited number available.
The corps announced several weeks ago that the two-year moratorium was being lifted. Now, officials say they'll start taking requests for new boat docks on Friday.
There are only 174 remaining dock permits available.
Forms for requesting a boat dock will be available beginning Friday at www.lakelaniersupl.com or at the corps office in Buford.
