HCFS accepting applications for citizens fire academy

GAINESVILLE - Hall County Fire Services (HCFS) is accepting applications for its upcoming Citizens Fire Academy. <br /> <br /> This ten week class is designed to provide the citizens of Hall County with information concerning the fire department, the many roles of a firefighter, and the variety of services that are provided by Hall County Fire Services. Participants will be given the opportunity to wear the protective gear of a firefighter and to get up close and personal with a real fire. Participants will learn about the role of training, code inspections, and special team operations. Participants will meet the individuals that serve and protect Hall County, and who respond to emergencies on a daily basis.<br /> <br /> The class starts on Tuesday, March 3 at 6:00 p.m. Classes will meet every Tuesday continuing through May 5. Classes will meet at the Hall County Fire Services Training Academy on Allen Creek Road. Classes will end each evening at 8:00. Participants need to be able to commit to this ten-week program. Individuals participating in the program will not be certified as firefighters, nor will any type of educational credits be provided. <br /> <br /> Requirements for attendance include the following:<br /> <br /> § Must be 18 years of age.<br /> § Complete a registration form.<br /> § Live or work in Hall County.<br /> § Be in good physical condition.<br /> <br /> Class size is limited. Application forms are available at www.hallcountyfire.org or can be mailed upon request. To register, please complete the application form and return it to Hall County Fire Services by fax to 770-531-6845, or by email to [email protected]. The deadline for registration is February 26.
