Dawson Co. school supt. retiring

DAWSONVILLE - Dawson County Schools Superintendent Nickey Gilleland plans to retire June 30.

Gilleland - who has been superintendent the past three years - has spent his entire 35-year career with the Dawson school system.

He told AccessNorthGa.com Monday he has been talking for some time with the school board about possibly retiring.

Gilleland will be succeeded as Dawson County Schools Superintendent by Assistant Superintendent Keith Porter.
