Rapes reported at Laurelwood

GAINESVILLE - Gainesville police are investigating reports that two patients at Laurelwood, a mental health facility in Gainesville, have been raped.

Police said Friday they were received Jan. 11. Sgt. Johnny Ray said both were reported to have occurred on Jan. 9 and 10. Ray said there are two separate victims and both are patients at the hospital. He added the suspect, also a patient, is the same in both cases.

Laurelwood is a part of Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS) and is described on the NGHS Web site as providing "a broad range of services for adolescents and adults experiencing mental health or substance abuse problems."
