DOT board member plans Gainesville visit

By Ken Stanford Contributing Editor
GAINESVILLE - The new 9th Congressional District state Department of Transportation board member will visit Gainesville next week for the first time since taking office.

Steve Farrow will be here on Friday for a meeting with business, government and civic leaders and anyone else.

It will be held at the Burd Center at Brenau University, according to the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce.

State lawmakers from the district elected Farrow to the post on the second ballot May 29, choosing him over Larry Dent of Gainesville. The other two candidates, Phil Neff of Dalton and Ray Seipp of Lookout Mountain, had been eliminated on the first round of balloting.

Farrow is a former chairman of Georgia's ethics commission and a former state senator.
