Gas prices inch upward but are lowest in 5 years

ATLANTA - AAA Georgia reports the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded remained steady overnight but increased 2.8 cents over the past week.

The statewide average is $1.59 Monday.

The national average for regular is 7 cents higher.

AAA said the statewide average for midgrade and premium fuels was $1.71 and $1.78, respectively.

Oil industry analyst Trilby Lundberg said the average national price of gasoline fell 9 cents in the past two weeks, bringing it to its lowest point in nearly five years, according to a national survey released Sunday.
