GSC among country's fastest-growing 2-year colleges

UNDATED - Gainesville State College and Gwinnett Technical College are among the nation's fastest-growing two-year colleges.

Gwinnett was 20th in its enrollment category (2,500-4,999) while Gainesville State (5,000-9,999) was 22nd, according to Community College Week Magazine.

The magazine says enrollment at GSC grew by 11.3 percent between Fall 2007 and Fall 2008, with the number of students increasing by 757 from 6,717 to 7,474. Gwinnett Tech saw its enrollment increase 12.6 percent during the period, from 4,253 to 4,789 - a net gain of 536 students.

Overall, Griffin Technical College in Spalding County, south of Atlanta, is listed as the fastest-growing of Georgia's two-year colleges and fourth-fastest growing in the country. Enrollment there increased 22.7 percent. Griffin Tech added 745 students. Its Fall 2008 enrollment is listed as 4,032.
