GAINESVILLE - Dianne Appling, Lifeline Coordinator at Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS), was recognized recently by Philips Lifeline at their headquarters in Framingham, Massachusetts as a valuable member of the Philips Lifeline Academy.

"The Philips Lifeline Academy, established in 2001, represents a membership of our best 200 community partners out of 2500 nationwide who continue to demonstrate an extra-ordinary level of commitment to helping more seniors and their families benefit from Lifeline while at the same time serving the goals of their organization to live its mission successfully," explains Ronald Feinstein, CEO Philips Lifeline, Executive VP Consumer Healthcare Solutions.

"It is an honor to be recognized for doing work that I love," said Appling.

The NGHS Lifeline Program, established and funded by the Medical Center Auxiliary in 1984, has helped over 1,286 seniors live more safely in their own homes. Today, calls for Lifeline referrals are received not only from health professionals but also from seniors' adult children and families who are trying to help loved ones retain their independence for as long as possible.

The Lifeline service provides immediate help for subscribers 24 hours per day, 365 days per week at the simple touch of a lightweight, waterproof button worn around the wrist or as a pendant around the neck. The service is affordable at $45 a month with a one-time professional installation fee of $95. There are no long-term contracts.

Founded in 1974, Philips Lifeline of Framingham, Massachusetts is the largest personal response service in North America. The company has helped over 5 million at-risk seniors and their families gain added peace of mind.
