Delta raises fuel surcharge for many trans-Atlantic flights

<p>Delta Air Lines Inc., the nation's third-largest carrier, said Thursday it is raising passenger surcharges on trans-Atlantic flights originating in the United States and South America by $10 each way because of high fuel prices.</p><p>The increase for tickets purchased on or after Thursday is for travel for passengers originating their flights in the Western Hemisphere, except Canada and Mexico, and heading to Deltas trans-Atlantic markets.</p><p>The surcharge for travel originating in Italy will increase $12.68 (euro10), based on Thursday's conversion rate for the euro.</p><p>Tickets purchased prior to Thursday for trans-Atlantic travel in the future are not affected by the changes, the Atlanta-based airline said.</p>
