Number of new jobs up in Gainesville

GAINESVILLE - The number of new jobs in Metro Gainesville increased by a tenth of a percent from January to February, according to data from the state Department of Labor.

In raw numbers, that's 100 new positions, bringing the number of jobs in Metro Gainesville to 70,100.

Hinesville added 200 new jobs, a 1.1 percent increase, the largest jump percentage-wise.

The state added 23,300 jobs during the period and has gained 88,600 over the past 12-month period, according to the Georgia Department of Labor. Most were in service-related industries. During the same one-month period last year, the state added 20,700 jobs, with many of those also in services.

The 14 metro areas of the state and their job changes from January to February
include:

- Albany, up 400, or six-tenths percent, from 64,800 to 65,200.
- Athens, up 600, or eight-tenths percent, from 78,700 to 79,300.
- Atlanta, up 16,600, or seven-tenths percent, from 2,342,500 to 2,359,100.
- Augusta, up 900, or four-tenths percent, from 214,100 to 215,000.
- Brunswick, up 300, or seven-tenths percent, from 44,600 to 44,900.
- Columbus, up 400, or three-tenths percent, from 122,100 to 122,500.
- Dalton, up 500, or six-tenths percent, from 77,800 to 78,300.
- Gainesville, up 100, or one-tenth percent, from 70,000 to 70,100.
- Hinesville, up 200, or 1.1 percent, from 17,600 to 17,800.
- Macon, up 400, or four-tenths percent, from 100,900 to 101,300.
- Rome, up 300, or seven-tenths percent, from 43,100 to 43,400.
- Savannah, up 1,100, or seven-tenths percent, from 152,500 to 153,600.
- Valdosta, up 700, or 1.3 percent, from 54,400 to 55,100.
- Warner Robins, up 100, or two-tenths percent, from 53,200 to 53,300.
