Regions introduces Desktop Deposit

By from staff reports
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Regions Bank, which has offices in Gainesville and elsewhere in northeast Georgia, has launched Regions DeskTop Deposit, a service enabling businesses to enjoy the ease and convenience of depositing checks electronically.

Using remote deposit technology made possible by the advent of Check 21 legislation, Regions DeskTop Deposit allows businesses to submit checks to their account at Regions Bank using a personal computer and unique check scanner.

"Regions DeskTop Deposit is a service that truly adds value for businesses that frequently accept and deposit checks," said Sandy Wright, Regions' director of Treasury Management Services. "Businesses will find that Regions DeskTop Deposit can save them valuable time and money, as they can manage their daily banking transactions without requiring an employee to leave the office and drive to the nearest branch."

Wright also predicts the service will help to break down distance barriers in the marketplace.

"The remote deposit capabilities the service affords will allow Regions to pursue and strengthen relationships with businesses located outside the vicinity of our branch network," she said. "Our branch network is extensive, covering 16-states across the South, Midwest and Texas, but Regions DeskTop Deposit provides an alternative delivery channel, enabling businesses to bank with Regions from virtually anywhere in the world."

Unlike some other electronic deposit services, Regions DeskTop Deposit is Web-based, which means there is no software to download and check images are stored online. This saves space on the business' computer, and decreases the chance of system failure and document image loss. Regions' dedicated Treasury Management Services Client Support Center helps each business to install the scanner and establish the service. Deposited item images are archived for 30 days for research and quality purposes.
