Sidewalk plan to be discussed Tuesday

GAINESVILLE - Friends of the Parks and the City of Gainesville are teaming up to build new sidewalks in existing city neighborhoods.

Brad Abernathy, president of Friends of the Parks, says phase one will utilize new six- foot wide sidewalks to connect downtown to several outlying areas.

Abernathy, who pitched the idea to the city council in July, says they include established and new neighborhoods, four city parks, and the lake.

A public meeting is scheduled at the civic center Tuesday night at 7:00 to explain the plan.
