New Hall men's health initiative

By by Ken Stanford
GAINESVILLE - A new health initiative is being launched in Gainesville aimed at drawing attention to men's health issues.

The Hall County Men's Health Initiative will target all men, but especially minorities, the uninsured and the underinsured, according to Anderson Flen, the Director of Health Education for the county health department, who appeared Sunday on Northeast Georgia This Week on WDUN NEWS TALK 550 and SPORTS RADIO 1240 THE TICKET (both owned by Jacobs Media, parent company of AccessNorthGa.com).

Flen says men are taking better care of themselves than 10-15 years ago, but there's still room for improvement.

Flen says the initiative will offer free health screenings for men in September.

Another of the goals, according to Flen, is to encourage health care providers to begin an emphasis on men's health.
