GAINESVILLE - A 19-year-old Gainesville man died early Saturday in what appears to have been an accidental shooting.
Gainesville Police Lt. Gary Entrekin says Zachary Carter was found at the house at 1333 Riverside Drive shortly after midnight, where he had been showing a 38 caliber pistol to some friends.
"He had unloaded the gun and put the gun to his head, thinking the gun was unloaded," Lt. Entrekin said. "According to the witnesses, he pulled the trigger and the gun discharged."
Entrekin says Carter was pronounced dead on arrival at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
