GAINEVILLE - It was quiet - very, very quiet - at polling places around Hall County Tuesday as a few voters trekked to the polls in the runoff elections.
The dismal turnout had been expected, but was expected to be even worse after the state Supreme Court canceled one of the races Monday.
How quiet has it been?
According to Director of Anne Phillips, by noon, three people had voted at Chicopee and seven at the Georgia Mountains Center, prompting Phillips to make an unusual election day plea: please vote.
Aggravating the situation in Hall County, in addition to cancellation of the court of appeals race: a lack of contested local races.
Only people who voted in the Democratic Primary July 20 or didn't vote that day were eligible to vote Tuesday.
