Pratt wins $2 billion contract, will service engines in Columbus

<p>United Airlines has awarded Pratt & Whitney a 10-year, $2 billion contract to service and repair V2500-A5 engines, with maintenance to be performed in Columbus, Ga.</p><p>The agreement, the largest aftermarket agreement in Pratt & Whitney history, includes two five-year options and covers more than 300 installed and spare engines that power United Airlines Airbus A319 and A320 aircraft. Pratt & Whitney will provide maintenance services at its Columbus Engine Center.</p><p>This is another building block in our strategy of developing a full service aftermarket around the world, said Mark Sullivan, a spokesman for Pratt & Whitney.</p><p>Rick Poulton, Uniteds senior vice president and chief procurement officer, said the agreement represents another important step forward in Uniteds restructuring efforts.</p><p>The V2500 engines are manufactured by International Aero Engines, an international consortium in which Pratt & Whitney is a lead partner with Rolls- Royce. The other partners are Japanese Aero Engines and MTU Aero Engines.</p><p>Shares of United Technologies Corp., the parent company of Pratt & Whitney, were down 8 cents at $95.27 at the close of trading on the New York Stock Exchange.</p><p>___</p><p>On the Net:</p><p>HASH(0x286649c)</p>
