JEKYLL ISLAND - The Athens Banner-Herald, Rome News-Tribune, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and Community Newspapers Holiding Incorporated's South Georgia Group were honored Thursday for their contributions to The Associated Press in Georgia. <br>

The Athens Banner-Herald received the Ron Autry Award, named for a former AP Atlanta bureau chief, for outstanding overall membership cooperation. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution received the outstanding news cooperation award. The Rome News-Tribune received the outstanding photo cooperation award. <br>

CNHI South Georgia received a special ``real-time cooperation'' award in recognition of the timely sharing of news and news planning that its daily newspapers provide the news cooperative. Frank Sayles, publisher-editor of The Tifton Gazette and director of editorial development for CNHI South Georgia, accepted the award -- an inscribed clock. Other CNHI South Georgia papers include: The Valdosta Daily Times, Thomasville Times-Enterprise, Clayton News Daily in Jonesboro, Americus Times-Recorder, The Union-Recorder in Milledgeville and The Moutrie Observer.
