GAINESVILLE - The formal announcement came Monday at Elan Pharmaceutical in Gainesville - the company is planning a major addition in Hall County which could create another 100 high-tech jobs over the next several years.
As we reported last week, the $40 million project will be phased-in over about three years.
Irish-based Elan Corporation wants to expand production of its Avinza drug.
Elan choose to expand its Gainesville facility instead of opening a new plant elsewhere in the U.S.
Elan will double the size of its current 52,000-square-foot facility, which should take about a year, to accomodate the production increase. Elan also plans to produce another new drug at the Gainesville plant upon its approval.
