Home Depot chief executive's annual salary increases

WASHINGTON - The annual salary of Robert Nardelli, chairman, president and chief executive of The Home Depot Incorporated, was $1.5 million in 2001, up from $202,531 in 2000, according to a preliminary proxy filed Friday with the Securities and Exchange Commission. <br> <br> The filing said Nardelli received a bonus of five million dollars in 2001, compared with no bonus in 2000. The filing said the five million dollar bonus included three million dollars required under his employment agreement. <br> <br> Nardelli also received other annual compensation of $7.3 million in 2001. <br> <br> Nardelli&#39;s other annual compensation in 2001 included $2.6 million for the forgiveness of a loan and accrued interest and $2.1 million for related tax payments, $1.3 million related to his relocation and sale of his house and $954,159 for related tax payments, and $50,325 to pay life insurance premiums and $41,812 for related tax payments, all of which were paid under the terms of his employment agreement, according to the filing said.
