GAINESVILLE - School Board members meet the public in two weeks for a hearing on Hall County's new elementary school district.
During their regular session Monday the board set the meeting for Monday, January 28 at 7:00 p.m. at Tadmore Elementary School according to School Superintendent Dr. Dennis Fordham.
"At that point we'll present the proposal we developed with the advisory committees from Tadmore and Myers Elementary schools," said
Fordham. "Of course at this point it is just a proposal."
Fordham said the proposal projects around 500 students for the new district moving from Tadmore and Myers schools, with room for 300 additional students as the district continues to grow.
School Board members may vote next month on a revised policy for student assignment to schools.
Dr. Fordham said the Board reviewed a draft proposal Saturday but student assignment was not on Monday night's agenda.
Board members said Saturday school assignment should simply be based on where a student lives.
Flowery Branch High School, now under construction, has a new head football coach, approved Monday night by the school board.
The Board approved a recomendation to hire Lee Shaw, now an assistant coach in Rabun County.
