CINCINNATI - Federated Department Stores Incorporated Tuesday says it will close two Macy's stores this spring in Alabama and Georgia. <br>

The Macy's stores at Riverchase Galleria in Birmingham, Alabama, and Augusta Mall in Augusta, are to begin liquidation sales early this spring. <br>

Federated says it will decide by midyear whether to sell or sublet the space or use it to expand the Rich's stores that now operate at other locations in the malls. <br>
<br>
The closings will affect 337 employees who may be able to transfer to jobs in other Federated stores. Severance packages will be provided for those who cannot be placed in other positions.
