Pursuit in Oakwood leads to wreck, arrest

By Will Daughtry News Reporter

A pursuit in Oakwood led to a crash and an arrest Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), a trooper responded to assist the Oakwood Police Department (OPD) at around 3 p.m. with a vehicle that fled from a traffic stop.

At that time, the trooper observed the fleeing Scion TC and also attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The Scion failed to stop, and a pursuit started.

The Scion led authorities down Stephens Road, traveling south and approaching Flat Creek Road.

The Scion failed to stop at a stop sign, and tried to turn right onto Flat Creek Road. In doing so, the driver struck a Nissan Altima that was stopped at the intersection.

The Scion driver, whose name has not yet been released, was arrested at the scene. The driver of the Nissan sustained only minor injuries and was not transported from the scene.
