A man remains in the Hart County jail after he allegedly stabbed his brother at a motel Wednesday night.

The Royston Police Department responded to the Days Inn Motel on Hartwell Street  to a call claiming an individual had been stabbed. Once officers arrived at the scene, they came in contact with a victim who had a laceration to his arm.

The victim reportedly told officers he had been stabbed by his brother, Christopher Lee Hill, who had taken flight and ran into a nearby wooded area.

RPD officers and deputies from Hart and Franklin County Sheriff’s offices then began a search of the area to locate Hill. The suspect was located following a short search and use of a Royston firefighter’s heat detecting drone, according to a social media post from the department.

Hill was arrested without incident on charges of aggravated assault (domestic violence), possession of a knife during the commission of a crime and obstruction.

“We would like to extend our deepest gratitude for the assistance of Hart County Sheriff’s Office, Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Hart County EMS and Firefighter Brady Roberts,” the Royston Police Department said in the social media post. “With their help we were able to render aid to the victim and locate a dangerous suspect within minutes.”
