Baldwin police officials say a suspicious package report that led to the closure of several roadways Monday, including Ga. 365, turned out to be a discarded oxygen sensor.
Baldwin Police Chief Chris Jones said officers were called to the Circle K convenience store on Ga. 365 at Charlie Davis Road Monday morning after a customer spotted a suspicious item in a trash can inside the store.
"The immediate area was closed by law enforcement," Jones said. "The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was requested by the Baldwin Police Department to assist in the investigation."
Jones said an unmanned robotic device was used to investigate the item, ultimately learning it was an oxygen sensor and was not a threat. All roadways have since been re-opened.
Law enforcement and fire crews from Baldwin, Habersham County and Hall County assisted in the investigation.

A suspicious package is being investigated by authorities in Habersham County late Monday morning.
The Baldwin Police Department confirmed a "heavy public safety presence" at the Circle K convenience store on Ga. 365 at the intersection of Charlie Davis Road.
"We are currently working an active incident and ask that everyone avoids this area until the all clear is given," the social media post by Baldwin Police said.
Police said more details would be released later, but said there is no immediate threat to the public outside of the immediate area. The Habersham County Sheriff's Office confirmed the police presence was due to a suspicious package in the area.
"A suspicious package located at a business inside the Baldwin city limits is under investigation by local and state authorities," the sheriff's office said in a social media post.
Ga. 365 and Charlie Davis Road are both closed in the area until further notice.
