MONROE, Ga. — Sadie Leek's late goal pushed the Lakeview girls soccer team past George Walton Academy 2-1 on the road Thursday.
Leek scored both goals, the first coming on a 35-yard kick in the first half. But the most important goal came late in the second half, off a throw-in from Jalyn Purdy, to push the Lady Lions in front. The Lakeview defense did the rest to preserve the win. Goalkeeper Amelia Corbin had 18 saves in the game.
The win avenges the 3-2 loss to the Bulldogs at home two weeks ago and ties the Lady Lions with GWA for first place in the region.
