It's Championship Week in soccer for the Georgia High School Association, and three northeast Georgia area teams will be going for titles.
Meanwhile, its semifinal week for baseball and just one area team -- Cherokee Bluff -- is still alive to try and capture a title.
In soccer, two girls programs -- Jefferson in Class 3A and Buford in Class 6A -- are looking for their first-ever titles. The Johnson boys in Class 3A are into their fifth consecutive championship match and will be shooting for their third title since 2022 and fourth since 2018 spanning three different classifications.
Both Jefferson and Johnson will play on Wednesday at McEachern High School beginning at 5 p.m. The Lady Wolves will play Thursday at 5 p.m. at McEachern.
In baseball, the Bears will travel to Fort Valley beginning on Tuesday with a doubleheader against Peach County in Class 3A. Bluff is looking for its second straight championship series after falling in the Class 4A finals in 2024.
