GAINESVILLE, Ga. — The Lakeview Academy girls held off North Hall Friday night, but it went down to penalty kicks in an eventual 3-2 victory.
Lakeview Academy keeper Amelia Corbin made two huge saves in the PK round to power the Lady Lions to the win.
North Hall keeper Helena Diaz made a great save on Lakeview's first PK and Corbin matched her with a great save of her own. Lakeview's Mackay Vinton scored in the second PK round and North Hall's second attempt went high.
North Hall came back in the third round as Georgia Dorsey made her PK while Lakeview missed in the third round. Jalyn Purdy scored for Lakeview in the fourth round and Corbin made another great save to send it to the fifth kicker. Addi Graham scored to give Lakeview the 3-1 advantage in the PKs and the victory.
But North Hall actually led first in the match, scoring on Brooklyn Green’s PK early in the first half and the Trojans would take that 1-0 lead into halftime. Lakeview would tie it up 14 minutes into the second half off a beautiful goal by Vinton from a Graham assist.
North Hall reclaimed the lead with 10 minutes remaining on a Georgia Dorsey goal. But Lakeview answered again with seven minutes left when Addison Farmer scored off a long throw in by Purdy.
