Several Tallulah Falls students won awards at TomeCon 2025 on March 18.
This event is put on by the Tome society, which is a nonprofit Literacy organization located in Georgia. The day of TomeCon includes reading, writing, technology, engineering, art and music.
Students had the option to attend seminars of their choice of authors, could create bookmarks and book art, purchase books and attend the authors book signings. Gary Schmidt, Kevin Sands and Margaret Peterson Haddix were authors that attended the event.
The following students won awards:

Caroline Smith, senior from Mount Airy - placed first in Book Talk and also received a five hundred Dale Pratt memorial scholarship.

Raegan Duncan, senior from Martin- received a five hundred dollar Dale Pratt memorial scholarship.

Gracie Gunter, a freshman from Cornelia- placed first in the book review video

Megan Prince, a sophomore from Rabun Gap- placed second in Book Review Blog and third in Book Connections Video.

Emily Cai, junior from Cleveland- placed third in Research Infographic

Lily Gaglio, junior from Lakemont-placed third in Research Infographic.

Joliet Okoronkwo, senior from Euless, Texas- placed third in fan art.

Maeve Hatcher, eighth grader from Sautee- placed first in Theme Essay.

Quinlan Flanders, eighth grader of Sautee- placed first in Fan Art.

Isaac Helgeland, seventh grader from Toccoa- placed second in Book Print Video.
This year's event theme was “Dive in”. According to their website “TomeCon is an exciting day of concurrent sessions based on all facets of literacy for students in grades 2-12.”
Offered at the event the students had the opportunity to participate in a raffle for a gift basket and to share their love of reading and writing with their fellow students, teachers, and the authors.
