A teenager from Toccoa was killed in a wreck Tuesday afternoon in southern Stephens County.
A report from the Georgia State Patrol said the single-vehicle crash happened on New Hope Road near Gulley Road when a Ford Ranger pickup truck, driven by Randall Bowen, age 18, was going east on New Hope Road through a left-hand curve.
Investigators said Bowen failed to maintain his lane and the truck went off the shoulder of the road and down an embankment, where it overturned and hit a utility pole. Bowen was taken by helicopter to a local trauma center, but later died of his injuries.
Georgia State Patrol investigators said impairment is suspected in the crash and that Bowen was not wearing a seatbelt.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash and no other injuries were reported.
