The White County Sheriff's Office joined its Banks County counterparts by recently becoming just the eighth department in Georgia to be accredited through the Office of Sheriff Accreditation Program (OSAP).
The department was recognized by the Georgia Sheriffs' Association.
“This accreditation was a big milestone for White County Sheriff's Office, and I am very proud of the men and women of this office who proudly rose to the challenge and worked so hard to achieve it,” White County Sheriff Rick Kelley said. “They spent several months reviewing and updating our policy and procedures to meet the high standards set forth for this accreditation.”
The accreditation program is a voluntary process and assesses best practice standards to meet the specific duties according to the Georgia Constitution, Georgia Statutes, and Case Law.
The accreditation process involves thorough evaluations and assessments of the department’s policies, procedures, and operations and includes on-site assessments.
“White County Sheriff's Office is proud of our commitment to providing the citizens of White County with the highest standards and professionalism they expect and deserve, and this accreditation is a great example of that commitment,” Kelley said.
