A 17-year-old in Jackson County was arrested Sunday night for one felony count of terroristic threats and acts according to officials.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reports that the arrest was in relation to online threats towards students.
Authorities said that the teen who made the threats is homeschooled, no specific school was named, and that the incident appears to be isolated.
"Parents please talk to your children. Discuss the serious nature of these types of threats and comments. We will continue to hold people accountable. Thank you to our patrol deputies and investigators for swift action,” Jackson County Sheriff Kevin McCook said in a Facebook post.
In a statement to AccessWDUN, McCook said "it was pretty cut and dry" and that it was a "generic threat online, and he admitted to it."
The investigation is ongoing, and all schools were notified.
