Georgia State Patrol release details of deputy-involved crash in Banks County

The Georgia State Patrol has released the details of a crash that occurred on Friday involving a Banks County Sheriff’s Office deputy.

GSP officials said the wreck occurred at 11:09 a.m. when a black Nissan Versa driven by Patricia Ann Stephens, of Commerce, 86, was traveling east on Steve Reynolds Industrial Pkwy. 

Deputy Justin Forrester, 28, was driving a Banks County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle south on SR 15 in the left lane.

After stopping at a stop sign, Stephens repeatedly failed to yield and pulled out in front of the patrol vehicle.

The Nissan struck the front passenger side of the patrol vehicle with its front.

Stephens was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville for injuries.

A Banks County Sheriff’s Office deputy was involved in a motor vehicle accident on Friday.

That’s according to Banks County, who said the deputy got in the crash at around 11 a.m. on U.S. 441 at Steve Reynolds Industrial Parkway.

A preliminary investigation suggests that a woman failed to stop at a stop sign, resulting in the collision with the deputy according to officials.

The Georgia State Patrol (GSP) is investigating the wreck.
