Hall County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) Director Zach Brackett gave updates on Hurricane Helene on Wednesday.
“The estimates that the weather service has given us is 10 to 15 inches of rain is possible between now and Friday afternoon,” Brackett said.
He added that can result in a “large amount” of flash flooding and regular river flooding.
60-plus mph wind gusts are also expected in the area along with widespread power outages.
Those gusts will be coming into the Northeast Georgia region at roughly 8 p.m. on Thursday according to the National Weather Service.
“If you’re driving… and you find standing water, don’t drive through it, don’t try to drive through it,” Brackett said. “Be mindful driving and stay home as much as possible.”
Brackett added to make sure all devices are charged up and ready to go to receive weather updates and to make sure water and food is available for “a couple of days.”
Governor Brian Kemp issued a State of Emergency on Tuesday. Further updates will be here on AccessWDUN.
