A structure fire in Clermont early Friday morning destroys a residential home, leaving Hall County Fire Marshal's Office investigating the fire's origin.

A release from Hall County Fire Rescue (HCFR) spokesperson Kimberlie Ledsinger says their crews were dispatched to the 7100 block of Britt Gailey Road at approximately 6:30 a.m. Friday.

Their 911 center received reports of a residential fire, confirmed by at least one nearby neighbor. First arriving HCFR crews found the fully engulfed structure and began an exterior fire attack.

Crews were able to quickly contain the fire, while units remained on scene until hot spots were no longer found.

Ledsinger says the single occupant of the residence was not home at the time of the fire and is safe. Although the primary search came back clear, Ledsinger says the home is a total loss.

No HCFR personnel were injured at the scene. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
