The City of Gainesville will officially end its summertime trolly services on Saturday, September 7.
The trolleys, which have been in operation for the 2024 summer season since early May, have transported passengers to and from Dixon and Glenwood/ Riverside neighborhoods to Downtown Gainesville Thursday- Saturday from 5:30 p.m. -10:30 p.m. Additionally, the city’s single shuttle bus serviced a route from downtown to Midland and Chattahoochee Golf Course neighborhoods.
Hall Area Transit confirmed the services have seen great success since their introduction in 2022.
“HAT is thrilled to share the Gainesville Trolleys transported nearly 19,000 passengers during its second season in 2023 – an increase of almost 100% from its launch year,” Gainesville-Hall County Community Service Center Director Phillippa Lewis Moss, who oversees HAT, said in a release.
However, the trolleys will be making a comeback for the holiday season, according to the city. The Holly Jolly Trolley system will return in the winter to connect residents to the square as well as the Wilshire Wonderland of Lights at Wilshire Trails Park hosted by Gainesville Parks and Recreation.
