DOTHAN, Ala. — One year after finishing as runner-up, Gainesville’s Hudson Justus captured the Future Masters tournament held at the Dothan Country Club.

Playing in the 11 & 12 age group, Justus fired a final round 3-under par 67 on Tuesday to hold off Wyatt Brindza (Celina, Texas) and Lincoln Rubis (Farmers Branch, Texas) by one stroke for the title.

Justus had birdies on Nos. 1, 3, and 4 on the front nine and drained a huge birdie putt on No. 17 that proved to be the difference. Rubis shot a 5-under 65 on Tuesday and had pulled even with Justus on the back nine. But Rubis bogeyed No. 17. Brindza matched Justus’s 67 on Tuesday.

Beckett McLaughlin (Austin, Texas) held the lead after Sunday’s opening round 68, with Justus tied for second with three others after shooting 70. But Justus grabbed the lead after the second round with a second consecutive 70, to lead Brindza by one stroke. McLaughlin shot a 74 on Sunday to fall off the pace.

Eighty players began the tournament on Sunday's opening round from across the world, with 44 making the cut for the final round.

It was the second Future Masters title for Justus, who captured the 9 & 10 age group in 2021.
