Jackson EMC sends crew members to Kentucky to assist with power restoration efforts

By Lawson Smith Anchor/Reporter

Jackson Electric Membership Corporation sent assistance to Pennyrile Electric in south central Kentucky after tornadoes and straight-line winds caused over 23,000 of its members to be without power.

Fifteen Jackson EMC crew members took several trucks and other equipment to help to safely restore power to service areas Monday morning. The cooperative still retains the resources to support its members as needed.

Jackson EMC provides fellow co-ops assistance with power restoration efforts following major outages.

“Cooperatives work to help each other,”  Tommy Parker, vice president of operations, said.  “We’ve been fortunate to receive help during our times of need, and we also send crews and equipment to assist where needed. That’s cooperation among cooperatives, and it’s just what we do.’’

Jackson EMC is headquartered in Jefferson. The cooperative serves more than 262,000 meters on 15,000 miles of energized wire.
