PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. — The Lanier Christian Academy girls soccer team beat Calvary Christian (Columbus) 3-0 Tuesday night to capture the GAPPS Division 1-2A state title.
Junior Lauren Johnson recorded the hat trick, scoring on a penalty kick in the first half and two breakaway goals in the second half to put the game away.
Eva Seidel helped keep the Calvary Christian attack at bay with a solid game in the midfield for the Lady Lightning.
LCA finished the season 14-2 and outscored its playoff opposition 7-1 in themoturnament. They also finished the season ranked in the top 40 in the state according to the MaxPreps computerized rankings.
Seniors Seidel and Ashyr Dingfelder helped push the program to its first-ever title and will move to play for Truett McConnell University next season.
