By Steve Winslow Anchor/Reporter

A two year search for a fugitive from Forsyth County officials ends with a Dawsonville man now in custody on felony drug distribution, possession and probation violation charges.

The Forsyth County Sheriff's social media shows 42-year old Vanus Nichols of Dawsonville was arrested with aid from the U.S. Marshals Office, Dawson County and other area task forces at his residence on April 11th for outstanding warrants over Meth possession with intent to sell, and felony probation violations from April of 2022.

Officials say Nichols was taken into custody without injury after initially trying to avoid deputies. Nichols is also facing separate charges in Cherokee County.

The Forsyth County Warrant Unit along with the Assistance of the JCaF Task Force, Dawson County Sheriff's Office and the US Marshals Office is responsible for making Nichols' recent arrest.
