Little relief is in sight for drivers pulling up to gas pumps this week for the commute in Georgia.
AAA of Georgia's website shows a minimal drop in the price of unleaded gasoline, just a penny lower than last week. The statewide average sits at $3.42 per gallon as of Monday. That's six cents higher than one week ago and four cents higher than at this time last year.
Montrae Waiters with AAA says the high demand for gas, amid currently tight supplies, continues to be the "driving" force behind the high prices. This is despite a slight drop in crude oil prices from last week.
Hall County's average price for gas sits at $3.39, with the lowest area average price found throughout Northeast Georgia in Hart County at $3.24 per gallon. This highest average price in the area is in Franklin County at $3.47 per gallon.
Nationwide, commuters are currently paying about $3.67 per gallon, and that is four cents higher than last week's average.
