Four northeast Georgia teams, boys and girls combined, are ranked No. 1 in their respective classifications and all four will be in action on Tuesday.
The Buford girls sit atop the Class 7A rankings and are undefeated. The Lady Wolves (10-0, 6-0 Region 8-7A) will play host to second-place Mill Creek (6-3, 5-1 Region 8-7A) and they already own a 2-1 victory over the Lady Hawks earlier in the season.
The Jefferson girls lead Class 5A and will on the road at Winder-Barrow. The Lady Dragons (10-0, 3-0 Region 8-5A) travel to Winder to play the Lady Bulldoggs (4-6-1, 1-2 Region 8-5A) having allowed just two goals all season.
The Johnson boys have sat atop the Class 4A rankings all season but have one of their biggest tests of the season on Tuesday. The Knights (7-1-1, 6-0 Region 8-4A) play host to No. 3 Cedar Shoals (8-2-1, 7-2 Region 8-4A) at The Dungeon with a chance to move within one win of clinching a region title.
And, the Union County boys are ranked No. 1 in Class 2A for the first time in program history. The Panthers (7-1-1, 3-0 Region 8-2A) have a chance to clinch the region Tuesday, playing host to second-place East Jackson (3-4-1, 2-0 Region 8-2A).
However, those aren't the only key matchups on tap around the area on Tuesday. The eighth-ranked Chestatee boys (7-4-2, 5-3 Region 8-4A) and Cherokee Bluff (7-4-1, 4-2 Region 8-4A) meet at the Lynn Cottrell Complex with both teams needing a win to stay in the playoff race. The loser could be eliminated depending on results in the other matches on Tuesday.
