Three northeast Georgia area teams will take No. 1 ranking into key region matchups on Tuesday in prep soccer action for both boys and girls.
In all, a dozen boys and girls teams combined are ranked in their respective classifications coming into Tuesday.
The Buford girls (7-0, 3-0 Region 8-7A) sit atop the Class 7A rankings and will play host to Collins Hill in region play. The Jefferson girls (6-0, 0-0-0 Region 8-5A) also will take a No. 1 ranked into action on Tuesday, traveling to Flowery Branch for a showdown with the Lady Falcons (3-3, 1-1 Region 8-5A) to open their region slate.
And the Johnson boys (5-1-1, 4-0 Region 8-4A) head to Bogart to take on North Oconee (1-6, 1-4 Region 8-4A) looking for their third straight win and to stay unbeaten in region play.
But perhaps the most intriguing match of the night has the Class 4A ninth-ranked Johnson girls (6-0, 4-0 Region 8-4A) taking on fourth-ranked North Oconee (6-1, 5-0 Region 8-4A) on the road with first place squarely on the line.
As for other teams in the area, on the boys side, North Forsyth is ranked 10th in Class 6A. East Hall sits third and Chestatee 9th in Class 4A with Union County fourth in Class 2A. Rabun County sits 8th in ClassA Division 1.
For the girls, Dawson County is 4th and Lumpkin County 5th in Class 3A and Towns County is 2nd in Class A D2, right behind fellow Region 8-A D2 foe Aquinas, who sits in the top spt.
However, storms are expected to hit the area with a 90 percent chance of rain. AccessWDUN Sports will update this if/when teams move games.
